Description
Care comes with a cost. Why not start this new year practicing appreciating the work you do by allowing others to hear your stories. It's heavy, let us put it down together and start this new year a little lighter. Join us as we sit in circle with others who care deeply for their work and for others as we explore the cost of carrying the emotional labor, the invisible work of caring not only about, but caring for others.
Dinner is provided (vegetarian/vegan and halal available).
Children welcome (we are in an art gallery however).
Please let me know by January 15 if you request an interpreter and the language.
OBJECTIVES
1. To practice active listening and connect the act of care to its costs and expectations;
2. To experience a profound change in expectations around professional care; and
3. To inspire further exploration and practice upon return to the work of care.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Define concepts such as "emotional labor";
Recognize intersections of expectations of care and race and gender; and
Experience theory in action around care.
