Mission

The Equity Consortium institutionalizes equity.

Structure

We practice shared leadership and are registered as a Social Purpose Corporation registered in Washington State, USA.

Organizing Principles

  • Intersectional nature of identity and leadership of those most affected matters;
  • What we pay attention to grows (attributed to Octavia Butler);
  • Mutual benefit with every exchange; and
  • Meet systemic challenge with gracious, systemic response.

Vision

We prepare individuals and organizations to thrive as we create a new standard of equitable practice.

Leadership by Those Most Affected

We prioritize hiring and contracting with those with personal, lived experience in their equity advocacy.

Work Ethic

All partners and contractors of The Equity Consortium are dedicated to:
  1. Cooperation and communication;
  2. Authority and responsibility;
  3. Fair and clear division of labor;
  4. Adequate staffing and time allowance;
  5. Honoring a healthy work/life relationship;
  6. Make room for creative conflict; and
  7. Sharing economic opportunities as a requirement of success.
Adapted from Charles Clinton Spaulding’s Fundamentals of Operation.

You can run things too because you are:
An advocate who knows that what we pay attention to grows.
Support. Healing. Truth. Grace. Power. Change.

Meet We, The People
Who Run Things.

We thrive at the intersections of race, gender identity, physical and neuro-abilities, age, religion, and beyond. We represent advocates of equity who work in all fields and sectors, across geography, and for all missions. Some are recognized with official titles, and many more are not; but one purpose unites us: We Institutionalize Equity.

Head Architect of Aspirations

bIOGRAPHY
Julia's two word life mission is to Institutionalize Equity. Yet, even as Founder and Head Architect of Aspirations, the title she is most proud of is Mother of Three.
Julia boldly finds joy in bringing the gift of equity to the world by standardizing workplace complaint systems and offering community created equity assessments for organizations across size, field, and sector.
Moreover, Julia finds satisfaction in providing equity advocates and practitioners with these very tools that help us all in our collective mission to rebalance power and enjoy financial security by providing a system of mutual support. She looks forward to the Consortium's monthly listening circles, a place between work and home to share story, curiosity, and wisdom as a necessary space to plan our collective future.

bIOGRAPHY
Three things are necessary for equity work: community, practice, and an active learning culture that allows for and engages discomfort, encourages mistakes, and celebrates wins.  Equity is an ongoing daily practice. It is not a tool to fix a school or institution, but a practice to repair and connect. It is a whole-person, whole-system change process that links culture and healing.
Christina's approach is deeply influenced by African and Indigenous scholarship. Specifically, the Zulu African philosophy of Ubuntu, which means "I am because you are." This philosophy underscores the importance of connectedness as one of the building blocks of society, urging us to be mindful of our relationships with one another and the environment. To be connected is to be whole and to share the responsibility of fostering an inclusive and equitable community where all individuals can thrive with self-determination and dignity.
