FREQUENT QUESTIONS
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
We allow two weeks to conduct the survey, but certain circumstances allow the survey to be completed in a few days. Once the survey is completed, our process takes exactly three weeks. In total, we like to give the process six weeks or less. WHO NEEDS TO BE INVOLVED?
We require a single point person but do require someone with authority to contract our services. Our goal is to be non-disruptive to the day to day operations. ARE THE RESULTS PUBLIC?
No. No way. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of this service. The Equity Consortium and all contracted Evaluators sign agreements to explicitly guarantee your right to confidentiality. Further, we only share the results with the point person. We will give the results to a second person if it causes less disruption. HOw DO you ensure the SURVEY's confidentiality?
We invite participants to be open and honest about what it's like to work there. To do so, we must be able to guarantee anonymity. Once all responses are received, a single coordinator scours the narrative results for any identifying information and replace it with "redacted". Beyond names of individuals and/or departments, we also redact any pronouns (I, him, she, etc.) just to be sure. In some instances, we will leave relevant information for the Evaluators but will always redact prior to sharing back with the organization. What languages and formats is the survey?
The survey is online and can be accessed on any computer with internet. We also offer a paper version and a fillable .pdf as well. The online version is also accessible for those with vision-related needs. We currently offer the survey in English, Spanish, and Mandarin. If you have a language or accessibility need, please let us know and we shall respond with diligence. [email protected] What if the organization is 100% Volunteer based?
We are not able to accommodate all-volunteer based organizations at this time for a couple of reasons: 1) Funds that would be spent on us should be spent on volunteers, and 2) see number one. We would like to offer, however, one hour of free consulting. Let us know! [email protected] |
IS IT SPECIFIC TO a PARTICULAR INDUSTRY?
No. This process was designed for universal application. Why? We found that no matter the industry, workplaces are not actually that different: We gather and work around a common mission. This is the origin of our two word mission statement: "Institutionalize Equity"! HOW IS IT DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER EVALUATION?
We are definitely not the only service that offers evaluations. What sets us apart from others is that ours was written and approved by a community of those most affected. Yes, some of us are academics. Some of us are consultants and professionals. But most were not. We don't use fancy jargon, just simple questions about things we appreciate. And that's just the survey content! We are the ONLY institution that contracts out our evaluation process to MULTIPLE folks. We do this for mutual benefit: The organization gets 3 for 1 consulting and our Evaluators are more confident to graciously speak the truth, given they are not alone. Win, win, win. HOW MANY NEED TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY BEFORE IT'S CONSIDERED DONE?
We always aim for 100% participation but know that is not always possible. Therefore, after speaking with multiple statisticians, we arrived at a formula to consider the survey complete: The first 10 employees plus 30% of remaining. This means organizations with 10 employees would require 100%. Think of it like the customer service number listed on a bag of chips. When someone does use it, they represent all those who wanted to call but didn't. It seems like a low number, but we actually added 5% above what was recommended! DO YOU have a survey for students/families?
Education is yet another industry where we enjoy having clients. And we are asked if we have a survey for students and/or families. The answer is no, not right now. However, we are in the process of development. Let us know you're interested in participating in its creation. [email protected] Are there any discounts available?
Because we contract out the majority of the work to our Evaluators (community capitalism!), the price is the price. We do, however, have a limited fund for organizations with 10 or less employees. Also, we have a lot more flexibility on the payment schedule such as monthly payments (never with interest!). We are not able to accommodate all-volunteer based organizations at this time but do offer one hour free consulting. Let us know, [email protected] |
